I was so impressed and moved by the conversation I had with Andrew Forsthoefel, a most intelligent, dedicated, and courageous young man. He is the author of Walking to Listen: 4,000 Miles Across America One Story at a Time, and in it he recounts his nearly year-long trek across America.
He speaks of the insights he gained: “It wasn’t until I set out with the intention to listen that I got to basically see the truth. There’s something a little closer to the full truth of my home, my neighborhood, my country, my people that I would not have been allowed to glimpse had I not, in some ways, humbled myself by listening and saying that I actually don’t know the full truth and I need help. Please teach me.”
