Let’s become magnificent, human butterflies for planet earth.

New Dimensions’ listeners truly are imaginal cells. Just as the caterpillar weaves its cocoon and dissolves into organic goop, “imaginal cells”—dormant in the caterpillar—begin creating a new form and structure. These cells, carrying the blueprint for the future butterfly, operate independently at first and are even attacked by the caterpillar’s immune system. But as they persist, multiply, and connect, they form clusters, communicate, and pass information back and forth, reaching a critical tipping point—then the butterfly begins to form, assembling new organs and wings from the nutrient-rich soup left by the old body.

In society, individuals who carry visionary, transformative ideas often feel isolated or misunderstood, just like the first imaginal cells. When these people seek each other out and connect, they create powerful networks—nurturing “the next stage of evolution”: a more just, compassionate way of living together. Resistance is a natural part of transformation; the old system will challenge the new, but the persistence and clustering of these transformative agents build resilience and collective power. Self-care, mutual support, and remembering the larger vision helps avoid burnout as we navigate this process. The butterfly, after all, is born out of coordinated effort, resilience, and the persistence of the imaginal cells.

Virtually and spiritually, New Dimensions’ community forms a living web of imaginal cells—remarkable individuals connecting in vision and heart. More and more, our guests are encouraging us, as transformational evolutionaries, to gather together and nurture a new, unprecedented wave of positive change for humanity and the earth. Bit by bit, conversation by conversation, our collective efforts—rooted in deep listening and shared intention—are building the butterfly of our highest potential: a new social organism, already present in our deepest DNA and our shared dreams for a more beautiful world.

Here are some suggestions and Steps to Organize an Imaginal Cell Meetup

These key steps are inspired by both nature’s process and successful examples in community organizing

  • Clarify Your Vision: Define the purpose of your group—such as fostering connection, sharing transformative ideas, mutual support, or co-creating local projects that embody positive change.
  • Start Small and Reach Out: Invite a few like-minded people to an initial gathering. Reach out via personal invitations, email, or platforms like Meetup, Facebook, or local community boards.
  • Host Your First Gathering: Meet in a welcoming space—someone’s home, a park, or community center. Start by sharing the imaginal cell metaphor, your group’s vision, and invite others to share their hopes and ideas.
  • Foster Deep, Meaningful Connection: Encourage storytelling, deep listening, and collaboration. Center care, empathy, and authentic relationships—imaginal cells work because they communicate and support each other, building trust.
  • Plan Regular Meetings: Set a consistent schedule for future gatherings, whether monthly or quarterly, to maintain momentum and deepen connections.
  • Co-Create Activities and Projects: Brainstorm ways the group can take action—discussion circles, community gardens, mutual aid, art projects, or local advocacy. Let projects arise from group interests and strengths, staying flexible and open.
  • Communicate and Cluster: Use email lists, chat groups, or social media to keep members connected between meetings. Encourage members to invite others, gradually expanding your “cluster”.

Principles to Embody

  • Inclusivity: Welcome diverse perspectives and backgrounds, allowing everyone’s gifts and vision to contribute.
  • Shared Leadership: Encourage rotating roles and collective decision-making to foster empowerment and creativity within the group.
  • Self-Care and Mutual Support: Acknowledge the challenges of transformation and provide space for support and rest to prevent burnout.
  • Connection to the Larger Movement: Consider networking or sharing stories with other groups—locally, regionally, or even internationally. By exchanging experiences with similar gatherings, you create opportunities for mutual inspiration and resource sharing, which strengthens your collective impact. This could involve sharing updates, collaborating on joint projects, or attending events focused on positive social transformation.

By drawing on the wisdom of the imaginal cell metaphor and proven community-building techniques, a local group can become a nucleus of positive transformation, resonating outwards to inspire wider change.
