The seed of inspiration that created and continues to guide New Dimensions programming is the invitation to focus on new perspectives and effective, forward-thinking solutions. It encourages us to follow our heart’s joy and give our unique gifts to our community of influence even in these most challenging times.
I’m reminded of the classic 1971 movie, “Harold and Maude.” Harold is young, in his late teens or early 20s, and Maude is almost 80; he is maudlin and preoccupied with death, and she is full of delight in living life in its full measure. The two of them are sitting on the banks of the San Francisco Bay, and for the first time in their friendship, Harold notices a faded tattoo on the inside of Maude’s wrist—a telltale sign that she’d been in a concentration camp during World War II. Up until that point, he’d never considered her past and the pain she must’ve suffered at the hands of other human beings. At some point, he observes, “Maude, you sure have a way with people.” She replied, “Why, Harold, they’re my species.”
Maude reminds us how we are all together in this wild ride of life, supporting one another. Since 1973, we at New Dimensions have tirelessly produced weekly broadcast dialogues with experts, educators, artists, scientists, philosophers, and wisdom keepers who have enriched our lives and society in many ways. In recent years, we’ve expanded into audio podcasting with a global reach and are initiating innovative video podcasts of our New Dimensions Café dialogues. In addition to myself, our hosting roster now includes the talented Travis Glen Sebera.
We’re in this together and counting on your financial contribution to help keep this broadcast beaming out. Media makes a difference, and positive media makes a positive difference. Please consider making a financial donation today. Your support is vital to the ongoing production of this program series dedicated to energizing our imagination for a better future for all.
