My wife hates it when I say that because she thinks it will be misinterpreted. But it’s not about whether or not you believe in God or any kind of higher spiritual self. It’s about the fact that you have to be very careful that you haven’t formed a belief system of just things you think are good and the rest of reality is pushed to the side. That’s going to give you a biased view and it’s going to create lots of trouble. Somewhere between these two things there’s a balance that helps ground me.”
