Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.

There is no God but reality, to seek him elsewhere is the action of the fall.
Unknown mystical group
“I have to give you two quotes, back to back, because they tend to balance each other. One of them is attributed to the patriot Patrick Henry. You need to keep checking in on what you’re doing but you need to be really careful not to take that to the point of paranoia.
The other quote is attributed to a mystical group, I don’t even know if they really exist, but I like the sentiment expressed. My wife hates it when I say that because she thinks it will be misinterpreted. But it’s not about whether or not you believe in God or any kind of higher spiritual self. It’s about the fact that you have to be very careful that you haven’t formed a belief system of just things you think are good and the rest of reality is pushed to the side. That’s going to give you a biased view and it’s going to create lots of trouble. Somewhere between these two things there’s a balance that helps ground me.”
