Quantum physics has shown that we, most likely, are living in a “consensual reality” and that our senses are reporting back to us only a very small portion of the greater reality. In this deep dialogue we discuss how the brain selectively filters our perception of reality through our personal histories, our beliefs, habits of mind, and our prejudices. It highlights the question of what is consciousness and where is it formed. Included is the idea of an underlying reality for all of existence in a universal consciousness. Eisenberg uses the metaphor of an iceberg to help us understand that the reality we see is only a small part of the whole. He says, “The assumption that there’s an independent physical reality external to us (which has been the operating assumption for the last couple of centuries in science) is breaking down.
