Product Description

Over time relationships go through many changes, but more than any other time, mid-life can put extra pressure on couples. There exists much information about menopause in women, but very little in menopause (or andropause) for men. Jed Diamond, Ph.D. is a specialist in “Irritable Male Syndrome (IMS)” and how it affects both men and their partners. He says this about the causes of IMS, “We found that there were, in fact, hormonal fluctuations that were going on with the men, as well as biochemical changes in brain chemistry which were often related to diet and ways in which serotonin levels and dopamine levels were shifting. The third thing we began to notice, is that there were increases in stress levels in the men beyond the normal stresses of life. And finally, we found that there were changes in male identity, and how men perceived themselves. There seemed to be confusion about what it really means to be a man as he gets older at this time in society.” (Hosted by Justine Willis Toms)
